Friends

This weekend I was reminded once again at how blessed I am.  A very good friend invited me to meet her for a quick lunch on Saturday.  While we were sitting there talking, I thought, this is how friendship is suppossed to be; easy, comfortable, rewarding.  This is someone I enjoy spending time with whether it is a quick lunch or a several hour "catch up" session.

Stony and I also went to Denver to see a friend and her new baby, which was a controversial visit.  He doesn't care to spend time with this couple and really doesn't care for the husband.  So we almost didn't go.  But our compromise was that while we were there, we would stop in to see another friend and her husband, a couple we both enjoy.  We so rarely go to Denver, it feels almost like visiting friends in another state.  The second couple we visited was a very needed visit.  Stony and I have very few couple friends and this couple, we have not seen in almost a year!  It was so nice for both of us to hang out with this couple, whom we are both comfortable with, and whom are both comfortable with us.  The converstaion was edifying and healing.  The food was fun (wings from a mom and pop shop) and we had a "picnic" on their living room floor.

I think one of the best parts of both of these friend times was that conversations revolving around God were abundant.  And it always feels good to get to talk openly and candidly about your beliefs and faith and to have others feed into that and pour into you.  Both friend-times reminded me of how loved I am and how much I love these people.  I am grateful for all my friends, whether they are close or very far away!
