Wildfires

Yesterday a wildfire started near Loveland.  Stony and I were heading out of our neighborhood shortly after it started.  We had no idea what was happening, but it looked big, so I took a few pictures.  Come to find out, when I took these pictures (about 11:45am), about 35 acres were burning up near Carter Lake/Pinewood Reservoir.  (As the crow flies, it would take us about 15-20 minutes to get to Carter Lake from our house.)

By 2:00pm about 120 acres had burned.  By 8 or 9:00pm they estimated 700+ acres.  When we came home from working in Estes last night it was about 11:30pm.  And you could see a few flames and some embers still burning, on a ridge just 7 minutes from our house.  (Just half a mile from my sister's in-law's house.)

Its just crazt to me...

  1. Is everyone safe? And do they have it under control yet?

  2. So far there have been no injuries (besides one firefighter fainting). It is 20-25% contained this morning. Its at about 925 acres. 2 structures have been burned. But it is going away from Loveland and our house, so as sad as this is, I am glad for that!
