Yesterday a wildfire started near Loveland. Stony and I were heading out of our neighborhood shortly after it started. We had no idea what was happening, but it looked big, so I took a few pictures. Come to find out, when I took these pictures (about 11:45am), about 35 acres were burning up near Carter Lake/Pinewood Reservoir. (As the crow flies, it would take us about 15-20 minutes to get to Carter Lake from our house.)
By 2:00pm about 120 acres had burned. By 8 or 9:00pm they estimated 700+ acres. When we came home from working in Estes last night it was about 11:30pm. And you could see a few flames and some embers still burning, on a ridge just 7 minutes from our house. (Just half a mile from my sister's in-law's house.)
Its just crazt to me...

Is everyone safe? And do they have it under control yet?
ReplyDeleteSo far there have been no injuries (besides one firefighter fainting). It is 20-25% contained this morning. Its at about 925 acres. 2 structures have been burned. But it is going away from Loveland and our house, so as sad as this is, I am glad for that!
