Oh my gosh! I have to take a break from work. Middle School students are hard enough to deal with...who knew their parents are worse?!
Things have been overflowing from our garage into our laundry room and from there into the rest of the house. I have 3 weeks worth of clean clothes carefully laid out all around our room--it looks like a disaster! The garage has a 3 foot square you can stand in, you can't get to anything. The laundry room is miserable because you can't get to the dog crate and doing laundry is ridiculous in that space. So, Saturday Stony and I rested (we slept til about 1:15) and then Sunday we worked! And we did work!
I took down the Christmas lights. I sold a bicycle and got it out of our garage. A friend came over and took some stuff out of our garage too--a papazan chair, an old weight bench, a coffee table, I don't know what else, but we loaded up the back of his full size truck. We took out another huge weight pulley system. We repacked some of Jenny's boxes. Moved a few of our things to the attic. Then we completely rearranged the whole thing. All of the furniture, toys, clothes, boxes from Jenny's house are in there and we got it all put away so that everything fits, we can walk through it, we can get to our recycling cans and we can get the lawn mower out. It looks so fantastic. When we were done I wished I had taken before and after pictures. Oh well, it looks beautiful and is functional again.
Since the garage was clean I could clean out the laundry room. I moved recyclables that had been stacking up. Finished washing clothes (cuz I put all the clean ones away in my room so I had room for more). Set up the dog crate so there is more room to move and put a few things Brodiss can't destroy or pull into his crate, on top of it. And then...we fixed the laundry room door. (Brodiss has separation anxiety. So before we got the crate, we used to lock him and Butter in the laundry room. Well Brodiss hated that! So he did his best to get out and get back in the house. He literally ripped a hole in our door and then because it was a hollow-core door, he proceeded to rip the entire bottom half off. Stony did his best to fix it so that it would at least slide, but it still had a hole in it.) Well, this weekend we replaced it. We put a new door on and this one has hinges so it works better and it is wood so it looks better.
We did so much work! Our house feels so good. But now that all that work is done, it has revealed more work that still needs to be done. Hopefully by the start of this summer, our house and yard and garage will be totally organized, cleaned and feel totally wonderful.
