Wow there are a lot of changes happening at the church. There have been a lot of things that have led up to these changes...and I think they are all good.
December was kind of a month of mourning for the staff. January was a month of lost curiosity. February has been a month of exploration and waiting. March has seen the staff getting anxious. Well last week most of our questions were answered. Then today, all the questions were answered.
My department has some of the most significant changes as far as job responsibilities and positions. Right now, I am the administrative assistant for birth through high school. By the end of May, we will add college age to that and a new department head. The current head of our department is moving into family and elementary age. The elementary guy is moving to middle and high school. And the ms/hs guy is moving into college age.
I start meeting with the elementary guy this week for 2 hours so that he can train me on Adobe Illustrator so that I can do part of his job. And next Tuesday, we meet the new department head.
I'm excited. I think everyone on my team is excited. But transition is always a little difficult--just finding a new routine and new balance and all that. I'm a little nervous about my work load, Helen (the only other female on my team) stood up for me today (at a meeting that I missed) and told all the boys, "Be sure you are careful not to overwhelm Britany with so much stuff that she wants to leave again. Be careful just piling stuff on her now that your job is different!" I appreciate Helen. I feel bad though that my leaving 2+ years ago was such a bad experience that they are afraid of it happening again.
I'm not the only admin. with job changes. The other 2 admins have had pretty extensive changes as well.
So the next few months will probably be filled with trainings and meetings and then this summer (when all these changes are official) the months will be filled with maneuvering transitions, finding balance, learning to say no and creating new systems and routines for all of us.
