Someone

So...the last week or so, I have had several opportunities to ponder the idea of friends.  And I actually have learned a lot.  Mostly I have learned about myself.  I'm learning about the quality of friendships.  I'm learning about the depth of friendships.  I'm learning about friends who pursue and friends that let you do the pursuing.  I'm learning about giving, taking, asking, boundaries, and love languages.  I'm learning about friends you have to make an effort with and the ones you make the effort with you.  I'm learning about different types of friends and the need for different friends. I'm learning a lot!

One thing that has come up several times is the need for friends.  We can't do this life on our own--that is not how we are designed.  And when hardships strike, the need for friends is SO great.  Think about when something bad happens, and you call a friend who is not nearby, their first question is almost always, "Are you with someone?"  We are not meant to be alone.  We are not meant to go through good things or bad things alone.  Even the Bible talks about rejoicing with one another and carrying each others burdens.

With all this tumbling around in my brain, my question is this, do you (do I), have someone you can call?  Anytime.  For anything.  Because whatever the reason, we all need at least one someone.
