Signs of Spring

I am so ready for spring...warm weather, birds, flowers, being able to go outside without freezing...  I've been watching for the first signs of spring for a while.  Last year in January, cows were birthing.  It was too early, but when I saw them last year I knew spring was close.  Well this year...no baby cows until the first part of March; which seemed to take forever to get here!  But not long after I saw the first baby cow I saw lots of other spring signs.

Our Iris is coming back and turning green
Stony started working in the garden.  Planting seeds indoors, turning the dirt outside and...
building this garden box.

Our tulip is coming up

Ah ha! A blooming flower! :)

Another sign of spring: there are 7 pairs of shoes in my car.  Why?  Because I hate driving with shoes on so I take them off as soon as I get in the car.  When it is freezing outside, I have to put them back on to walk in the house.  When it is spring, I can go barefoot

Stony and I were looking our the living room window talking about spring and he said, "Now all we need is birds."  Right after he said that a robin hopped out from under our truck and onto the lawn.  I giggled and said, "Well there you go, a robin."  And then another one hopped out from behind our truck.  And then another one.  We both laughed because they only hopped, they never flew and they never got closer than about 3 feet to each other.  We kept watching them and then another one hopped out from under the truck.  "That's four."  Then another and another.  By number 7 we were just laughing because it seemed so surreal and bizarre.  These robins just kept hopping out from under or behind our truck.  And they would hop all the way across our yard; none of them getting within 3 feet of another. When they reached the end of our yard, they would fly up on the fence and wait for the next one to get to the bottom of the fence; then the one on the top of the fence would fly away.  They never ate bugs or gathered twigs or flew in our trees.  They just hopped from one end of our yard to the other.  In total, there were 14 robins that hopped through our yard.  That is the most bizarre sign of spring I have ever seen!
