Experiences

Deacon has been asking for a month  if we can "drive up on a hill to see all the lights at night."  So last weekend, I took Deacon, Kizzy, and Steven up to Rainbow Curve.  It is the last corner on Trail Ridge Road that you can get to, when they close the road.  It has a wonderfully big pull off and a walk way along the edge of the mountain that overlooks Estes Valley.  It also has a small outcropping of rocks that is easy to climb.  Stony and I used to come here when we first started hanging out together.  We would climb out to the edge of the rocks and just sit and talk and look at the valley.

Well, the other night, it was a full moon so I let the kids climb up on the rocks.  The 4 of us just sat there looking at the lights from Estes.  Both big kids thought it was "so cool."  They didn't want to leave.  And if it had not been so cold and we didn't have to pick Stony up, we would have stayed a while longer.

But just having them there, experiencing that with the 3 of them...that was special for me.  The fact that they enjoyed it too made it awesome for me!
